about me

As a graduate from the School of Visual Arts with a B.F.A. degree, I am a freelance illustrator and designer with over thirty years experience. Clients include Crain's New York, Xerox, and Money magazine. In 2000, I illustrated my first children’s book " The Little Green House," published by Twins magazine.

Graduating from F.I.T. with an M.A. degree, I'm now combining my stories with illustrations to create a number of projects including greeting cards and children's books. 'Sidney Sees a Shrink' is available through Amazon.com (There are several illustrations from Sidney on this site.).

As for my art: My designs are clean and organized with a certain softness to them. My illustrations are thought provoking and fun. Most pieces begin with traditional media and end up on the computer where I add color (see my accepted piece for Illustration West 50). I love the immediacy and visceral touch you get when working with traditional media, but for making color adjustments there is nothing like a computer.

Along with freelance work and the projects mentioned above, I enjoy teaching on the college level. I have taught classes that utilize the computer along with traditional foundation courses. "Strong congratulations to Professor Stroud on his level of enthusiasm and his ability to actively engage all the students…" writes Faye Lourenso, Academic Chair at SCCC.

Having moved to Boulder, Colorado I took advantage of my new surroundings and began plein air painting.
